Los Horcones River
Every year, millions of tourists from all over Mexico and the world visit Puerto Vallarta. Of these, only a small percentage ventures through the Los Horcones River Canyon, and of these, much less still, visit the sculpted granite walls and majestic waterfalls of this pristine natural treasure. Those who are lucky enough to do so are impressed by the biodiversity of this precious gem; a stream of pure water fed by the mountains, starting between pines and oaks in its upper reaches to the dense rainforest when its flow approaches the sea. Jaguars, jaguarundis, ocelots chase deer, coatis and river otters by their banks. Above, an abundance of extravagantly feathered birds rush through the canopy of the forest embedded with orchids and bromeliads. This river canyon and its wildlife now face innumerable threats, but a united community that knows and cares about its natural treasures can protect them and ensure a hopeful future. Join our friends from Puerto Vallarta at the next Los Horcones Musical Festival to celebrate this river, giver of life, and connect in solidarity for the well-being of this artery of our planet. Long live Los Horcones!
